About The Book
While Doctor Jessica Huntington engages with the inmates at the women’s correctional facility where she works, she’s always careful to avoid emotional attachments in her personal life. Loss and betrayal taught her that lesson long ago. But when she comes across a set of old love letters in the prison’s library and visits the picturesque town of Hartwell to deliver them to their intended recipient, she finds herself unable to resist the town’s charm – and her attraction to the sexy owner of a local bar proves equally hard to deny.
Since his divorce from his unfaithful ex-wife, Cooper Lawson has focused on what really matters: his family and the boardwalk pub they’ve owned for generations. But the first time Jessica steps into his bar, Cooper is beyond tempted to risk his heart on her.
Yet as their attraction grows hotter and Jessica remains stubbornly closed off, he begins to realize it will take more than just passion to convince her there's only one real thing in life worth fighting for. . .
About the author
The One Real Thing is delicious, actually it's down right indulgent, a novel smothered in caramel, chocolate and cream the story will capture you from page one. We meet our leading lady which for once is the more flawed character usually we have our alpha males full of flaws but no this time we have Doctor Jessica Huntington who has dived into an empty routine, work, work, emotionless sex, work but when she discovers lost love letters she is drawn to Hartwell and her frozen heart is thawed from the moment she arrives. Jessica is a brilliant leading lady showing strength and such vulnerability in equal measures making her more relatable and fully emerging you into the character. Now shall we discuss Cooper, the man that has literally taken over my dreams? Yes we bloody well will! Cooper Lawson is single, after a rotten marriage he is happy to focus on the important things in life, like his business and family but the gorgeous Bar owner is not in any way ready for a relationship, then Jessica swoops into his life and nothing will ever be the same!
What I enjoyed most about this book was the suspense of it all Jessica has a dark past that haunts her, haunts her so much she isn't sure she has ever lived a life at all, that's until she meets the people of Hartwell. Keeping her past hidden but also falling in love with the town and its people, slowly Jessica realises there is only one thing that matters but could her past be too much to handle? Is she brave enough to let the secrets out and be truly happy?
The characters are solid, the supporting characters teasing us just enough to want at least three more books! The plot is a perfect roll coaster, the book is five stars and I can't write anything else other than buy it, but it now and fall in love because once you walk along Harts Boardwalk you won't want to leave!
PS the next book is out in March I have already put it in my diary!
Indulgent and gripping, a romance book with all the right ingredients. Samantha Young serving up once again, a perfect read!
