Jennifer Gilby Roberts is unleashing the second book in the fabulous Parker Sisters series! She will be doing the rounds with this soul-searching romance, which will bring you reviews, guest posts and a gorgeous giveaway! But I Said Forever is the second book in the Parker Sisters series (first book The Dr Pepper Prophecies), but can be read as a standalone.
This isn’t a book about falling in love, this is a book about loving yourself. Brittany is only twenty three years old, she has a big fancy house, all the perfect appliances, a wardrobe stuffed full of designer clothes and a beautiful baby boy, but none of that makes up for being in a loveless marriage. Phillip her husband is a doctor, and to him appearances are everything, his parents are also as just as shallow, after finding out a devastating secret that Phillip has been hiding Brittany realises she cannot live like this and her son cannot grow up with her marriage as an example for his future relationships.
Brittany stands up on her own two feet and makes things happen, landing a job in a bakery and making new friends including the gorgeous recently divorced chef, Zack. She slowly but surely starts to feel good about herself with the help of her nannies one sweet and understanding and the other a straight talking bad girl who enjoys a bit of investigative journalism on the side she feels supported to leave Phillip but the fallout with her family, her in laws and her husband wasn’t pretty. She finds herself having to prove herself, proving that she can provide and take care of business and create a career for herself, with her new found passion in cake decorating, she sets out on a journey of self-discovery.
I absolutely loved But I Said Forever, I thought Jennifer Gilby Roberts did a fantastic job of creating a story that isn’t your normal romantic comedy, But I Said Forever is sugary, delicious and heart-warming. I felt that Brittany was a great leading lady, she was suppressed, she was hurting and she had moments of weakness but she did what she knew was the right even though she was leaving the comfort of financial security. The honesty was what I really enjoyed the most, there are women who feel like this, they have nothing for themselves, and they are just an ornament for their husbands to display.
A charming book about self-worth, laced with humour and realness, it’s a real treat. I can’t wait to read more from Roberts, I hope there is more to come from the Parker sisters!
