About The Book
Love is an open door…except when it keeps slamming in your face
Hopeless romantic Milly Rose has had her fair share of heartbreak. Obsessed with all things Disney, she refuses to give up on finding her Prince Charming – he’s out there somewhere, isn’t he?
When Milly is given a job to investigate the origins of a historical building in the village of Clover's Rest, she’s not sure what to expect. What she discovers takes her breath away - a beautiful real life Cinderella castle, complete with turrets, a magnificent drawbridge AND a very handsome owner…Cameron Heartstone.
As Milly and Cameron begin to unearth the secrets of Clover Castle, they can’t ignore the intense chemistry building between them. But they’ve both been hurt badly before. Can they take a big leap of faith and find their own happily-ever-after?
A deliciously enchanting read that will delight fans of Rachael Lucas, Lucy Diamond and Miranda Dickinson or anyone who has ever blubbed at a Disney movie. Who says real life can’t be a fairytale?
About The Author
I live in sunny Bedfordshire in a house with round windows. I studied media at university which led to a very glitzy career as a hotel receptionist followed by a even more glamorous two years working in a bank. The moment that one of my colleagues received the much coveted carriage clock for fifteen years service was the moment when I knew I had to escape. I quit my job and returned to university to train to be a teacher. Three years later, I emerged wide eyed and terrified that I now had responsibility for the development of thirty young minds. I taught for four years before History Off The Page came to my school to do a Tudor day. I now drive round the country in my little white van, dressing up as a Viking one day and an Egyptian High Priestess the next.
Fairytales are a part of every little girl’s childhood. At one point in our lives we have pretended to be Cinderella, Snow White or Rapunzel. But what happens when you grow up, what is there for us women who still believe in happy endings, but still know we have to pay the TV licence.
Well I can tell you what we have, we have Holly Martin’s brand new novel, Fairytale Beginnings, and it’s a grown woman’s fairy tale! With all the fun, laughter and magic of Disney’s originals spiced up with steamy chemistry and hearts that bare bruises and scars. The book is the story of Milly Rose and how her job leads her to Clovers Rest a village full of wacky history and crazy residents but what she didn't expect to find while on her way to analyse the village’s castle is the owner to be a total dreamboat, with flaws and a tendency to put his entire foot in his mouth! She must find a way to date the castle, or suggest a way to make the castle pay for itself without running the owner into the ground.
That isn't all, being a woman who immerses herself into history, she finds secrets and mysteries that have yet to be solved, but the answers are hidden in the walls of the castle. The castle with blue roofs and an excessive amount of turrets and even a draw bridge. This book is full of magic, mystery and sweet romance.
I enjoyed the entire premise of the book, it’s sweet but has a spicy little kick to it. Finding balance in books can be hard, too much and the entire thing can be ruined! Holly Martin finds the perfect way to balance the book, even though sometimes books can be totally unbelievable, this to me was believable, relatable with just the right sparkle to make you grin like a looney, and giggle like a school girl.
Did I forget to mention there is treasure, three cackling old ladies and one nasty woman who is hell bent on ruining everything! Seriously there isn't anything this book doesn't have!
Swoon appeal I have to discuss this as us book floozies love a good man and Cameron the leading man is delicious! Imagine a large smoking hot guy wrapping his arms around you in front of the fireplace, in his VERY OWN CASTLE. You see, dreamy right? He is also flawed and doesn't trust easily but has this soft side to him, a side to him that accepts the unacceptable, he was a bloody delight to read.
Holly Martin brings us a fantastic romance that will make you want to slip your feet into glass slippers, look at pumpkins differently and sing to the birds. A modern fairy tale for women who know, sometimes, you have to storm the castle and claim the prince for yourself.
Magic, glitter and converse, a tale as old as time, a tale you must buy!
