About The Book
Hero is also my top read of the month featured on my home page, so this isnt just another blogger taking part in a tour. I genuinely love this book. Hot contemporary romances are a dime a dozen. Finding one that is not only sexy but smart and compelling is hard but Samantha Young wrote a just Hero and I fell in love. I'm pretty sure you will too.
About The Author
Hero is not your average romance, it's so much more than that. Let me introduce you to Alexa Holland personal assistant to one hell of a diva photographer but after losing her mother she is walking a thin line with said boss. When she comes to a shoot and comes face to face with a man that is entwined with her family's dark past. Caine Carraway is a shark, a formidable businessman with a very sad childhood he was an orphan and the reason he became that is Alexa's fathers fault.
Alexa finds herself jobless after having Caine blow up at the shoot so she does what any woman would do, she puts on her big girl knickers and finds a way to see Caine and explain. It just so happens Caine decides to hire her and make her life hell. From there on we are introduced to two supporting characters that I also love! Caine's best friend and his adoptive grandmother who lives next door, who by the way has a mouth on her and bakes on hell of a cake. Alexa is thrust into a Caine's world, where she finds herself run of her feet but also in awe of Caine. The way he has taken the pain and suffering and used it to make himself powerful and respected.
There are things Alexa doesn't know, there are things Caine doesn't know but what they both have in common is the uncontrollable heat that sizzles between them. Lust and passion explodes and the sex scenes in this book boy did they make me blush but also want to call my boyfriend and demand we attend a ball! What I loved about the sexiness of this book was it was explicit but not in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable, not in a way that makes you roll your eyes but in a way that is intelligent, its a new breed of sexy.
People step away from the whole Fifty Shades Of Grey phenomenon. You want an alpha male, a man that knows what he wants, and demands the room Caine is that man, but if you're like me and like your leading ladies full of sass and knows what she wants, Alexa is also for you. I have seen the comparison of E.L.James thrown about, Samantha Young Glasgow's answer to E.L.James. Well sorry lovelies I'm calling bulls*** (sorry sometimes I get a little passionate) Samantha Young blows the lid of contemporary romance, writing a strong male lead and an equally strong female lead and making it completely and utterly divine is the work of an author who is talented in her own right, no need for comparisons Young has it all.
The characters arc is flawless, just the right amount of build up, the author shows us what the characters are feeling rather than tells us. Always the best technique as it makes us connect to the characters and catapults us into the story where we lose ourselves, where time has no meaning. Each piece of the puzzle fits into their place, their our no surplus characters, no fluff, nothing flowery, its pretty damn perfect. I can not recommend this book enough it's bloody brilliant!
Finally a book that is not just down right sexy but witty, intelligent and full of heart!
