About The Author
I was totally besotted with this book from the moment I opened it. I previously reviewed Love Like The Movies and I loved Tiem's writing the layers and connections bringing a whole new complexity to the plot. So when Holding Out For A Hero slid through my letter box I was beside myself, a book set to an 80's soundtrack could this get any better?
Well yes it does, the book is full of 80's references and the protagonist herself is locked emotionally in 1985! Libby London has built herself a life within a time capsule, locking her heart and mind away from any more hurt. One problem though, she has friends and they have had enough, enough of the leg warmers, enough of the stagnate life she has created, so what do they do well of course they stage and #80sIntervention and this is how the book develops from great to, down right fantastic!
Libby has suffered though, she has demons that haunt her day and even more so at night, but no one really knows the truth, no one knows that her first love has a crippling hold on her after all these years, no one knows her body and mind is crippled with guilt and no one knows who Libby London really is, including herself.
The book is one of the most uplifting, soul searching and delicately written books I've ever read! depression, guilt and grief mixed with leg warmers, a parrot and one big gesture, set to an 80's soundtrack could you ask for more?
I am a huge fan of Victoria Van Tiem and I can't wait to read her next big hit! I am hoping, praying okay BEGGING that we get to travel on with Libby London as she was just such a wonderful character, full of depth contradictions and sarcasm she is my kind of woman!
if your looking for a book to really connect to, really feel this winter you've just found it!
Get a cup of tea, pop on those fluffy bed socks and dive in your about to relive/enter the 80's and fall in love with the emotional DRAMEDY (btw awesome sub genre) Holding Out For A Hero!
FIVE GOLD STARS!
