About The Book...
At thirty, Claudia's life is stale and the romance with long-term boyfriend, Seth, has disappeared. Determined to inject some festive spark back into their love life, Claudia and Seth go on their first date in a very long time. But when the night ends in disaster, Claudia suddenly finds herself facing life - and Christmas - alone.
Life alone is exciting, scary and full of soon-forgotten exercise regimes and ill-advised attempts at crafting sexy underwear. It's also filling up with dates, surprisingly. With best friends Penny and Nick at her side, a surplus of festive markets, mulled wine and Christmas tunes, Claudia attempts to face all this change with gusto. One thing's for certain: this year, Christmas is going to be very different . . .
This is the story of Claudia and her twelve dates of Christmas. Hilarious, uplifting and romantic, it's a story about losing love, finding love, and discovering what's been there all along. Expect Christmas sparkle, butterflies-in-your-stomach romance and a lot of very funny moments in The Twelve Dates of Christmas.
About The Woman Herself...
The twelve dates of Christmas, well its god damn perfect. I have wanted to read this for a while and as of today the twelve dates of Christmas can be bought as an entire novel and the story is perfection.
Meet Claudia, she is in a stale relationship, and after a near death experience with a corset, a brand new red dress, and a hair full of glitter she is off on a date to bring back the spice and adventure to her relationship, there's just one problem, her boyfriend, Seth is an asshole and he dumps her.
Heartbroken she turns to her best friend Penny, with a hilarious attempt of the insanity fitness program and crafty recreation of her underwear collection, she sets out on finding her dreams, and the real her.
Now let's talk swoon appeal, Nick! Claudia and Penny's best friend and third musketeer, he is delicious, charming and all kinds of perfect. I adore him from the way he interacted with Claudia to the way he was the biggest Christmas fan on the planet, I'm talking Christmas jumpers, mulled wine, Charles Dickens the lot. He is the sweet sexy that we all dream about, but he also has a wicked sense of humour, which ladies we all know is damn right sexy!
Sometimes certain things stick in your head, they may be small but they are either entertaining, romantic or hilarious, the thing that I really enjoyed was Nick’s texts to Claudia, such a small part of the book but I loved them. They made me laugh so much and I believed them, that's what's so good about Lisa Dickinson’s writing it's not just written well, it's written in a tone and way that you relate too, that you connect too and that you laugh your bloody ass off too.
Now Claudia, Nick and Penny go through a lot in this book and I loved them all as characters but I also loved Claudia’s dad, Nick’s mum and Billy from the pub each character coming to life upon the page, it really says something about the book when you don't just enjoy the main characters but the supporting ones too!
Can Claudia take the risk on her best friend and learn that after all these years it's always been him, can she come up with a new dream and let go of her childhood one, can she have the relationship she wants?
