A world built of words
visit the far corners of the earth, live a thousand lives, read.
Today's post is a little different its a review of this fabulous company and the products they have created for children. Story books, stickers cut out ambulances and your very own monkey puppet.
I was very kindly sent a lovely big box of their products about two days before my daughters birthday and was so excited to give her the box so we could play and read with everything, The box contained pencils lots of stickers and activities, it was gorgeous very well presented and my daughters face lit up when she pulled out the monkey puppet!
She sat and played with the puppet for what felt like forever, making up little stories and really getting stuck in, I loved that she could use the puppet by herself but i could also use it and tell her stories that had been provided.
Now my daughter is healthy little monster, which I'm so blessed and thankful for but the reason Monkey Wellbeing started was because of one amazing woman. Helen Sadler. A mum on a mission Read her & her family's story below.
Mum On A Mission
My mission was to make my 18 month-old daughter’s operations stress-free. My handmade book, featuring a monkey’s visit to hospital has transformed into an essential resource for all families faced with the hospital experience.
“When my husband, Daniel, and I found out we were expecting Josephine, our first child, we were overjoyed. But at the 20-week scan we were presented with the daunting news that our unborn baby had CCAM, a rare cystic lung complaint, and would have undergo major surgery when she reached 18 months old.
“She was born in August 2007, and 18 months flew by. As surgery loomed, we were determined she wouldn’t feel anxious and searched for story books to help her through the whole experience.
“We found illustrated strories, but nothing that would give her a real sense of what she was about to experience. So I took action. As a primary school teacher I used my skills to create a handmade book. The idea was simple, a toy monkey was the patient and he was photographed in the actual hospital rooms that Josephine would visit, with the equipment that she would see all around her.
It paid off, Josephine was relaxed and positive, she was excited when she recognised the machines and people that Monkey had introduced her to. Her positive spirit throughout her stay helped to relieve everyone’s worry – and boost her recovery.
The Royal Alex quickly commissioned a second edition of Monkey has an Operation, followed by Monkey has a Blood Test. With the success and positive feedback we decided to make it a business, and our publishing company, AhHa Publications was formed. We hope you enjoy our storybooks
My daughter loves her Monkey and we took him with her to have her needles she held onto him and told me "I'll be brave like monkey, mummy" I was so happy I got the opportunity to review this product and bring awareness to this fabulous company. I would highly recommend Monkey Wellbeing to all parents, whether its for your normal doctor visits or your child has a condition that needs doctor/hospital visits this is a great tool to have!
