There's a thin line between hero worship and dangerous obsession . . . the explosive new Eve Dallas and Roarke thriller
A crisp winter morning in New York. In a luxury apartment, the body of a woman lies stretched out on a huge bed. On the wall above, the killer has left a message in bold black ink: FOR LIEUTENANT EVE DALLAS, WITH GREAT ADMIRATION AND UNDERSTANDING.
Eve Dallas is used to unwanted attention. Famous for her high-profile cases and her marriage to billionaire businessman Roarke, she has learned to deal with intense public scrutiny and media gossip. But now Eve has become the object of a singular and deadly obsession. She has an 'admirer', who just can't stop thinking about her. Who is convinced they have a special bond. Who is planning to kill for her - again and again...
With time against her, Eve is forced to play a delicate - and dangerous - psychological dance. Because the killer is desperate for something Eve can never provide - approval. And once that becomes clear, Eve knows her own life will be at risk - along with those she cares about the most.
About The Author
Nora Roberts published her first novel using the pseudonym J.D. Robb in 1995, introducing to readers the tough as nails but emotionally damaged homicide cop Eve Dallas and billionaire Irish rogue, Roarke.
With the In Death series, Robb has become one of the biggest thriller writers on earth, with each new novel reaching number one on bestseller charts the world over.
I am a huge Nora Roberts fan, so whether she is writing as J.D.Robb or not I couldn't wait to get started. I am new to the In Death series, and once I finished Obsession In Death I couldn't wait to read more, and the series is seriously successful, this is the 40th instalment, yes guys 40th! With that said, Obsession In Death can easily read as a stand alone novel, but still will be a new favourite for loyal fans.
I will be reviewing this book as a stand alone, so lets get started, as soon as you open the book your are hit with strong imagery and a eerie monologue from the murderer, I loved the opening, it immediately pulled you in. What you find out is this person is obsessed, with bad ass Eve Dallas, so much so in fact that the killer takes it upon himself to seek revenge and be her personal warrior, by killing anyone that says a bad word or gets in the way of the killers disillusion.
There are so many positive aspects to this book, I loved that Eve was happily married to Roarke, and that their relationship is still hot, passionate, so often you have a single protagonist who is out to find love, well Eve has her man and I loved that she was tough, strong and could take care of herself, there should be more female leads like this!
Another point I want to discuss is the amount of suspects there is, you never quite know who the killer is. Who is this obsessed fan of Eve's who is the killer?! That guessing, that entire theme is what makes this book my new OBSESSION!
I am so glad I have been introduced to this series and will be reading more from J.D Robb for sure!
I'm a bookwhore, yes I said it, I have no shame, I will wander off with any old book I'm not even a little bit ashamed. Twenty Seven, Mum, SEND Teaching Assistant, general beauty hoarder and lover of the Irish.
