About The Book
Poppy and Jazz have been best friends from the first week of university. Whenever these two get together trouble isn’t far away and things haven’t changed much. When Jazz gets herself into financial trouble Poppy, being a good friend, offers to help. She instead ends up being talked into swapping lives, with Jazz insisting it will be good and help her get over her broken heart.
Poppy is thrown into a new life, full of crazy housemates. There’s fitness freak Izzy, horrendously beautiful bitch Grace and the slightly gorgeous, if not incredibly grumpy Ryan.
Quickly, with the help of Jazz, her life is thrown upside down. Madness ensues and her need to please everyone gets her in more trouble than she could ever imagine.
Before she knows it she’s got a fake boyfriend and is hiding so many secrets she’s scared they’ll spill out any minute. With a bullying boss, a sex crazed colleague, a mental mother and three brothers each with their own dramas, life has gotten pretty difficult for Poppy. And all of this would be much easier, if she could just stop falling over.
Will she get her life back to normal before her brother’s upcoming wedding? And will she want to?
My name is Laura Barnard and I am an author from Hertfordshire, UK. I'm the chick-lit author of The Debt & the Doormat, The Baby & the Bride and Tequila & Tea Bags.
In my spare time I enjoy drinking my body weight in tea, indulging in cupcakes the size of my face, drooling over hunks like Jamie Dornan, Ryan Gosling and Leo Dicaprio...oh and my husband of course :-) I like wearing yoga clothes and reading fitness magazines while I sit on the sofa and eat chocolate. I'm a real fan of the power nap and of course, READING!
I write not to get rich or famous, but because I LOVE writing. Even if one person tells me they enjoyed my book it makes the midnight typing worth it!
I'm in love with this book, it's utterly brilliant and there is many reasons why so let me tell you them.
Firstly the characters are spot on, Poppy the doormat, the yes woman, she is seriously stuck in her ways after bad breakup that came from nowhere. Jazz is in debt, and is living beyond her means so what do two best friends do when they need to wake up and shake up their lives, swap homes of course. in control of each others decisions they set out to sort out their problems and the results of this is bloody hilarious!
I have always been a fan of romantic comedies, there is something just so satisfying about them, swooning over the men, laughing yourself stupid and wanting to become best friends with the leading lady. All these things happened while reading The Debt & The Doormat, Poppy is clumsy, crazy and totally loveable, Jazz is a different type of crazy, she is sexy and wild but I got a sense that deep down she wanted to find the one, even if she didn't admit.
Now we have to discuss swoon appeal and that comes in the form of Ryan. Oh sweet misunderstood Ryan, he isn't at all what he seems which I really liked about him, he had layers and I loved slowly finding out more about him.
The book is funny, really funny there are scenes that had me crying with laughter, I am going to say the postman scene was my favourite but that is all I am saying, you will understand when you go download the book, its free so what have you got to lose, nothing you have nothing to lose but a lot to gain because this is a real treat, and it is not to be missed!
Relate to the drama and stress, relate to the embarrassment and craziness of being a woman with The Debt & The Doormat.
