Under The Burning Stars
Falling in love isn’t the only problem for Ava Hannigan.
When seventeen-year-old Ava discovers that she can breathe underwater, she’s disappointed. She wanted to be normal and dreads the day of her initiation into one of the most powerful covens of Elemental Enchanters. She has fallen in love with a human, which is forbidden, but she has such a strong connection with Peter, the only other person who knows what it’s like to grow up motherless.
Ava and her friends never expected to be caught up in the middle of a three-hundred-year-old war. Devon wants revenge against the humans for killing his master. Xavier, a ruthless witch, is building an army for Devon by spellbinding several students into becoming dark Enchanters. After Xavier realizes Ava and her friends are Elementals, Devon will stop at nothing to have their power. Xavier threatens Ava, attempting to coerce her to join them, but when she refuses, he kidnaps Peter.
Ava must seek help from her coven to defeat Devon and accept her life as a witch in order to save Peter and protect the humans.
Under The Blood Moon is the first book in the Elemental Enchanters Series. It's fresh and a new take on witches I have always loved paranormal stories, specially romance ones, as I'm a sucker for a love story. Under The Blood moon is all about 17 year old Ava and her friends who are the Elemental Enchanters, they are very rare and powerful enchanters each having the power to manipulate an element. Ava and her fellow enchanters had their powers hidden till they were 17, once they reach 17 their powers would come back and they would be initiated into their coven! But all is not right in the magical world, Ava is in love with a human, which is forbidden being like most women when you say you can't have it, it only makes you want it more. Thats not Avas only problem, there's trouble brewing and people are changing and disappearing and its all down to the new boy at school!
What I liked about Under The Blood Moon was that it wasn't your average magical story. It's a new take on witches Enchanters and magic as a whole. I love reading stories that are so fresh, when authors create a new world a new race of beings its so interesting to me, and Carrigan does it so well you find yourself wanting to know the back stories to all the characters, you really bond with Ava, rooting for her which is what I always think a leading lady should do to a reader, I thoroughly enjoyed the book and as soon as it finished I was ready for the next one!
Action packed with a coming of age twist, Under The Blood Moon is a knock out!
Under Thee Burning Stars
Everyone said it was over. But Ava knew it was just the beginning.
After risking everything and beating the odds to be with the love of her life, Peter, life should be good for Ava. Far from it. An altercation with the humans has left him struggling with his new life as an Enchanter, and Ava can feel him slipping away. Nightmares of her mother's murder haunt her, and leave her grappling with the darkness inside herself. She will stop at nothing to uncover the truth about her mother, even if that truth is more dangerous than anything she's faced before.
After her search for knowledge lands her on the verge of banishment from her coven, Ava must seek forgiveness from everyone and forge her own destiny as the coven faces an onslaught of war.
Well book 2 Under The Burning Stars is a delight! Carrigan Richards eases you back into the story and refreshes your memory so very well, which is good because most people don't read the books straight after each other, most people have a gap in between, so the way you are immediately refreshed and reminded of the characters was really well done. Under The Burning stars picks up where Under The Blood Moon stops!
The first thing I want to say is that this book is a lot more action packed, the secrets, the emotion, the amazing rollercoaster ride you go on is amazing! Ava goes through so much and you can really see the development in the character, which I love in a series watching the character change and grow is always satisfying to me as a reader.
Now I actually think Under the Burning Stars is better than the first book, I feel like the amount of emotion and twists in this book was really fantastic, with the introduction of new characters and new types of magical beings and the way all the characters just evolve really made this a great read for me!
It leaves you wanting more and more and you just can't put the book down!
5 stars for Under The Blood Moon & Under The Burning Stars
