A world built of words
visit the far corners of the earth, live a thousand lives, read.
When coffee shop owner Zoey Everwood takes her obsession with ex-boyfriend Braden too far, everyone—except Zoey—is convinced a bit of fun in the sun at the Moment of Zen Wellness Resort will help her get over him once and for all.
But Zoey's relaxing vacation turns out to be anything but peaceful when she meets Shane Lawson, a resort guest who bears a striking resemblance to Braden. And things get even more complicated when the resort's owner starts spilling secrets about Zoey’s aunt Nessa, the woman who raised her. Add a snarky Wellness Coordinator and Nate Holmes—Shane's grumpy friend—to the mix, and you've got the recipe for a perfect tropical storm.
When Zoey comes back home with a new husband instead of tacky souvenirs, she must convince everyone she hasn't completely lost her mind. As Zoey and Shane struggle to keep the magic alive outside the resort, Zoey discovers that she isn't the only one having trouble letting go of the past. And when Nate drops a bombshell that changes everything, Zoey must decide if the old saying is true—what happens at the Moment of Zen stays at the Moment of Zen.

Zoey & The Moment Of Zen By Cat Lavoie is probably one of the most frustrating books I have ever read. Honestly, I wanted to climb inside the book and slap leading lady Zoey, she was annoying me by the time I got to about 80% in. Why do you ask I will tell you, Zoey was dumped on the day of her best friends wedding and a year on she finds herself stalking him, hacking his email account, and then drags her best friend and husband to a restaurant she knows the EX will be at. ARGHHHH! NO! ZOEY NO! It may just be me and my personality but I just wanted to shake her and be like wake up the world is passing you by! When her auntie Nessa & best friend decide enough is enough after a terrible reaction to bumping into said EX, they decide it's time for an intervention.
She is sent to Moment of Zen Wellness Resort to unwind get a bit of me time and just get her ex out of system, but instead she runs into her ex's doppelganger, Shane and his grumpy rugby playing best mate, Nate. Cue whirlwind romance and impromptu wedding Zoey isnt coming home to her family run coffee shop with a new outlook she is coming home with a husband. Could she go from one extreme to the next any quicker, I think not!
Now Zoey has a lot on her plate, she has to deal with the fallout from her aunt and best friend Dar, as expected they are best pleased about Zoey coming home with a husband and not a fresh outlook and a killer tan but is Shane the man she thinks he is? When you get married in the Moment of Zen Wellness Resort are you really married? Does everybody have a box in the back of their cupboard full of skeletons of their ex's past?
I did enjoy this book once I finished it, which sounds weird but the build up was a bit too long for me I would of liked less of Zoey being fragile and obsessing over Braden, and I just wanted her to be stronger quicker, I know in reality break ups can do this to people, I know it is more realistic but honestly half way through I did start to aggravated with Zoey I just wanted that phase of her life to be over and for her to kick ass and take no prisoners a little bit sooner. Other than that, It does have good plot twists, it does have believable characters and it does have that chocolatey satisfaction ending.
